Diane Behrens studied art history in Florence, Italy and Vienna, Austria and painting at the Art Students League in NYC and at Barnsdall in Los Angeles. Diane paints from life, responding to the immediacy of the moment and the excitement of the changing light and shadow. For Diane, each painting presents a different challenge, but the vivid colors of vegetables and fruits, controlling the lighting and simplifying the shapes are what she enjoys in particular about the still life.
