Sola Arm Chair
"Sola" means "sky" in Japanese. The Sola is one of the three chairs developed as a showstopper to mark the 60th Anniversary of the maker. The design team spent 3 years to accomplish the goal of creating a collection of simple and sophisticated furniture suitable for both residential or commercial settings, the team went through an extraordinary number of prototypes until they reached the perfect design.
The Sola Chair is made with natural beech known for its smooth grain. The seat back arced around the chair created a luxurious atmosphere. As the name suggested, this chair is so light (only 8.5 lb) that it feels like it can float in the sky. The naming marked the designer's achievement in creating a super light-weight luxurious arm chair. The Sola Chair is the winner of the Good Design Award 2006.
