Japanese Lacquer ware

Wooden bowls have the law of thermal conduction to their advantage: They are not too hot to hold even when they contain hot things and they do not cool down too soon. Moreover, compared to ceramic and porcelain tableware, they are very light and easy to hold and drink from. That makes them effortlessly functional to all kinds of people, including the very young and very old. Wood by itself does have the disadvantage of not being very durable; however, any potential problems are perfectly compensated for with the use of Japanese lacquer, which has been used since ancient times. Japanese lacquer is not only waterproof and antiseptic, but also chemical-proof against acid, alkali, alcohol, etc. This Bowl Series pursues an easiness to hold and a smoothness to drink from, taking advantage of the properties of the wood and Japanese lacquer. The large café au lait bowls offer a non-slippery and firm surface, by having handmade Japanese paper pasted on the outside.

Despite their delicate appearance, lacquer bowls are easy to handle and take care of with the proper care. Kitchen detergents can be used to wash away oil stains, although use of a scrubbing brush or hard sponge should be avoided to prevent damage. Use of a dishwasher and dryer should also be avoided, in addition to keeping the bowls submerged in water for a long time. With these rules followed, the bowls can last for at least a decade, and can even be repaired if any damage does occur. Please feel at ease to use these bowls to bring beauty and elegance to your daily meals.
